摘要

Corrosion resistance of Monel 400 alloy due to graphene coating was investigated. An ultra-thin graphene layer was developed over Monel 400 alloy by chemical vapour deposition (CVD) technique, and the presence of multilayer graphene was confirmed by Raman spectroscopy. Potentiodynamic polarization tests showed the graphene coating to improve corrosion resistance of the bare Monel 400 alloy by nearly two orders of magnitude. The improvement which is contrary to those reported in a few other studies is attributed to the effective barrier properties due to less defective nature and the multi-layer nature of the CVD graphene developed in this study.
