This paper investigates the shear properties of waste tire-bottom ash mixture (WB mixture) with various particle sizes of waste tire. Waste tire powder with 3 different particle sizes (i.e., 0.1 mm-2.0 mm, 0.9 mm~5 mm and 2 mm-10 mm) were mixed with bottom ash at various WT/BA ratios (i.e., 0.0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, and 0.1). In this study several series of direct shear tests were carried out. The experimental results indicate that the mechanical characteristics of WB mixtures are strongly influenced by the particle size and the mixing ratio. It is shown that the shear strength and internal friction angle of WB mixture decrease with an increase in waste tire powder content. However, the shear strength and internal friction angle of the mixture increase as the particle size of waste tire powder increases at given WT/BA ratio.
