Structure and abrasion resistance of MoS_2/TiN composite coating on Ti-6Al-4V alloy

The MoS_2/TiN composite coating was prepared on Ti-6Al-4V by the combination of plasma diffusion and magnetron sputtering techniques. The microstructure and phase constituents of the composite coating were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and X-ray diffraction(XRD). The abrasion resistance of the composite coating was examined on MM-200 abrasion tester. The results revealed that the composite coating consisted of MoS_2, Mo, TiN and Ti phases, and its abrasion resistance was excellent under dry friction and absolute sliding.
