Surface treatments for corrosion protection and joining of fasteners with carbon fibers - (PPT)

DLC coatings by PACVD meet completely the corrosion resistance requirement and contact corrosion by preventing the red rust corrosion of the bolt at the mating surface with CFK plate. About mechanical properties of Titanium Gr.5 bolts: 1. tensile strength is comparable to 9.8 properly class; 2. elongation at fracture is very poor compared to quenched and tempered bolts of the same property class (around 4 times less). Friction coefficient is very high in the as-delivered condition, commonly not acceptable for the automotive market.
