This paper describes tapered slot antenna that two conductor roof like fins are added at edge of the antenna (RTSA). RTSA is positioned between conventional tapered slot antenna (TSA), which is planar structure, and double ridged horn antenna (DRHA), which is three dimensions structure. TSA in mesh structure or corrugated type as its modification is reported [1][2]. Presented antenna is novel type of TSA. RTSA is able to be regarded as the antenna that feeding circuit of DRHA with a wave guide transducer is replaced to wideband planar matching circuit. Researches into the radiating characteristics of RTSA are of much interest because we expect to realize the antenna contains features of TSA, which are planar and easy fabrication in wideband traveling wave antennas, and features of DRHA, which control the radiation pattern and the gain on its design. The article considers the basic characteristics of matching and radiation on a RTSA element. WIPL-D Pro is utilized in numerical evaluation and experimental consideration is also done. The results show that the gain increases, the main lobe becomes narrow and the side lobe level decreases without matching degradation by adding the roof.
