Study of Portable Inspection System Based on Image for Law Enforcement of Timber Transportation

Based on the embedded and terminal technology, an algorithm for the log image volume measure was designed to develop the mobile terminal log volume measuring subsystem to achieve the acquisition and real-time upload of original departure photos and data in the process of timber transportation. By this transportation law enforcement subsystem based on mobile communication, law enforcement officers can remotely download the original departure photos and compare them with the actual transportation conditions to carry out accurate inspection without stopping. When they discover illegal transportation behaviors, they conduct on-site forensics by mobile phone and print a penalty notice, where photos and GPS information ensure the stringency and objectivity of law enforcement forensics. Meanwhile, experiments show that with support of this system the timber transportation inspection posts in the forest regions of southern China are able to achieve intellectualization and standardization of transportation inspection, which can automatically release legitimate vehicles to effectively reduce inspection time and improve the efficiency of timber transportation in order to promote harmony development of the timber transportation environment.
