摘要

Children with severe to profound hearing losses, may not receive sufficient benefit from hearing aids. In such cases, cochlear implants appear as an option that can allow these children to develop language and achieve communication skills. With the expansion of cochlear implants candidacy, those children with bilateral severe to profound loss who receive little or no benefit from hearing aids, defined as poor speech recognition scores for sentences in the ear to be implanted as well as in the non-implanted ear or the binaural condition, even with a certain amount of residual hearing, can now benefit from this technology
