In this paper, compound modifications of melamine water reducer with naphthalene series, aliphatic series and sodium lignosulfonate water reducers were studied. Cement paste and concrete tests show that pumping agent containing melamine-naphthalene water reducers has outstanding retentivity of cement paste fluidity, excellent working performance of fresh concrete and higher compressive strength of concrete hardened for 3-day, 7-day and 14-day. The Zeta potential changes with time of cement particles absorbing melamine water reducer and modified melamine water reducer were determined. The melamine water reducer compounded with naphthalene series could reduce the change of negative Zeta potential and improve the dispersivity retention of cement.
