The interfacial transition zone (ITZ) as the weakest position in cemented materials is always paid much attention. The hydrating products as well as the microstructure at the ITZ between granite aggregate and cementitious pastes have been studied using ESEM and EDS methods. Specimens with different slag additions (0%, 30%, 50% by mass of cement) were prepared. The polycarboxylic acid superplasticizer (PCA) dosage was 0.3% by mass of cement. It was found that the ITZ microstructure have been studied intensively because Ca(OH)2 crystals(CH) were decreased by the pozzolanic reaction of the slag with CH.
