To verify the effectiveness of the integrated importance measure (IIM) of multi-state k-out-of-n: G systems, the physical meaning of IIM of multi-state k-out-of-n: G systems is demonstrated by the formula derivation with the minimum satisfactory level of system performance. Propositions are proved to show that the characteristics of IIM and the relationships between IIM and Birnbaum importance measure in multi-sate k-out-of-n: G systems. The comparison results show that: from the point of view of improving the system reliability by replacing the object component with a new corresponding one, IIM can exactly measure the change of the k-out-of-n: G system reliability, but the Birnbaum importance cannot.
