Punching the rice field with punching machines before transplanting the paddy rice seedling is sure to increase the compactness of soil (as deep as five meters underground), lower down the permeability coefficient of soil, and furthermore reduce the loss of irrigation water resulting from deep percolation, thus bringing about water saving irrigation. This article focuses on introducing the testing method of water-saving irrigation in compacted paddy rice fields, and through experiments, demonstrates the great advantages of this method such as water-saving, output increase, as well as environmental protection. On the other hand, it also indicates that this method has no adverse impact either on the growth of paddy rice or on the quality of rice, won’t effect the soil’s mineralization, and on the contrary, plays an active role in protecting the ground water from being contaminated by pesticides or fertilizers.
