摘要

In this chapter, our experiences with an interdisciplinary teaching module, 'titled Stop Having Sex--The World is Overpopulated! will engage secondary school students in model-eliciting activities. In working with the material, students are guided through a series of activities that involve them in sociomathematical decision making. A primary focus will be given to the role played by interdisciplinarity in this decision-making process. Intuitively, the construction of, and reflection on, models, with the aim of reaching a decision on a societal issue will typically require an interdisciplinary standpoint.
