For most of history, children grew up in a state of intellectual darkness until they heard about the outside world in their classroom setting, thus the beginning of intellectual enlightenment (Prensky, 2008). In contrast, in today's day and age, children begin their journey in the understanding of the outside world at a much younger age with the help of technological advancements like the Internet and the use of social media.
