DETSApp: An App for Disaster Event Tweets Summarization using Images Posted on Twitter

摘要

In this paper, a method for summarization of the images posted on online social media (OSM) is proposed. A method based on near-duplicate image detection is used to cluster the images. The images within each cluster convey some information which is summarized using the textual information posted along with an image. The application is intended for smartphone users and may help the rescue personnel in any disaster situation. The proposed method is tested on a dataset collected from OSMs during the floods in Chennai in December 2015. Some of the results are presented in this paper to show the efficacy of the proposed method.
