Over the past 30 years the use of thermoset composites in high performance applications has evolved remarkably. Advanced thermoset composites are used in many applications including: aerospace primary and secondary structures; wind turbines; space and defence; sports and recreational goods; automotive parts and alternative energy. The formulary of monomers used has not changed much during this rapid increase in penetration of composites into diverse markets. With a few exceptions, these advances have arisen through: improved formulation; increased capabilities in manufacturing technologies; improvements in design capabilities and general 'maturation' of composite technology.
