Risk assessment of debris flow in Qingdao city

As one of the main geological hazards which happened in the mountain area, the economic losses and human casualties caused by the debris flows were huge. In order to accurately and reasonably predict the range of the debris flows and the potential losses of the debris flows in Qingdao city, based on the ARCGIS software, six hazard factors such as the slope, the fault density, the relative altitude, the terrain type and the average annual precipitation were chose to do the hazard assessment in this paper. Then set the counties as the study area, based on the definition of vulnerability published by the department of Humanitarian Affairs, United Nations, to assess the vulnerability of the debris flows. based on the risk assessment model of natural disaster:risk=hazard×vulnerability, finally get the comprehensive risk zoning of debris of Qingdao. The result showed that, the highest risk degree of debris flows was located in the Laoshan district, the Dazhushan area and the Jiaonan Mountain this evaluation results can provide a scientific basis for the prevention and treatment of debris flows in the future in Qingdao city.
