摘要

In a so densely inhabited area like the Mediterranean basin, the management of remediation efforts should be designed taking in consideration all the economic and political resources available in the basin, in a way that both sides of the basin, the European one and the African and Middle-East south side could benefit of a more careful and safe global management. The Mediterranean basin need a global remediation intervention that would involve simultaneously all the countries in the basin. Such a global approach would guarantee the best management of industrial development, minimizing the impact of the basin. In this context, the management of the microbial resources available in the Mediterranean Sea for addressing bioreme-diation of polluted marine sites, is the main objective of the present European project ULIXES. This project was positively evaluated and funded under the grant agreement 266473, in the ambit of the Cooperation program of the FP7-KBBE-2010-4 call.
