This paper presents novel high-frequencysignal injection-based self-sensing methods for four-phaseswitched reluctance machines. The methods cover fullmagnetic operating range of the drive including saturationand show compensation methods to Improve the rotorposition estimation under saturation. The effects ofmagnetic saturation on machine saliencles are studied andmodified carrier signal injection methods are developed tomitigate the effect of saturation on rotor position estimation. Simulation and experimental results are presented todemonstrate the effectives of the proposed method forcontinuous rotor position estimation at low speeds.
