Aiming at the technical problems of overlying coal seam during depressurized mining in Huainan Mines, we designed a physical simulation model of compound roof with different thickness to study the principle of roadway unstability and collapse caused by dynamic pressure. The results show that when the compound roof is thicker than the bolted zone, the roadway deformation is the most serious and also the security situation is the worst. Meantime, we carried out a numerical simulation to study the stress space-time evolution of the working field surrounding rock, as well as the evolution of roadway displacement and crack field before and after the roadway in the lower layer being excavated. Based on the study, we proposed a series of rock control rules and technologies under extracting, which successfully applied to in-situ roadway support practice.
