POST-OPERATIVE CARE FOR THE COLIC PATIENT: THE ROUTINE, THE ABNORMAL AND COMPLICATIONS

Routine post-operative care should include treatment with antimicrobials, NSAID's and IV-fluid therapy. Each post-operative colic treatment should be specific for the intra-operative diagnosis and potential post-operative complications. At this point,several different intraoperative case examples will be given (colon impactions, large colon enteroliths, small colon enteroliths and impaction, small intestinal resections and large colon resections).
