REAGENT DEVELOPMENT: NEW ACORGA~R FORMULATIONS WITH ENHANCED STABILITY

Cytec Industries Inc. has developed new formulationsrthathave enhanced stability. The ACORGA~R "M" class of copper solvent extractant reagents have been the reagents of choice for years in the copper solvent extraction industry due to their high Cu/Fe selectivity, copper transfer, and hydrolytic stability. This class of reagents includes ACORGA M5640, ACORGA M5774, ACORGA M5850 and ACORGA M5910. The latest in reagent development has been the ACORGA NR5774 and ACORGA NR5640 extractants which provide excellent chemical stability under nitrating conditions. In addition, Cytec is currently developing a new reagent for SX solutions having high reduction-oxidation potentials (referred to under its development sample nomenclature in this paper as ACORGA DS). The new ACORGA reagents allow for the desired physical and metallurgical performance under harsh PLS or electrolyte conditions.
