Conventional powder metallurgy materials have been difficult to move to higher densities other than by slight incremental increases and meet the properties of its rival wrought materials. Having a process to obtain material densities above 97% of theoretical with identical operational steps to conventional press and sinter would be a major step in producing near net products with enhanced properties and similar economics. This has been accomplished using conventional -100 mesh water atomized powders which have a higher purity than its wrought counterparts thus narrowing the gap on properties.
