What happens when you start getting wet feet?The revised standard for buoyancy and stability afterflooding

This paper describes the development of a new performance-based standard for buoyancy andstability after flooding on domestic commercial vessels. The standard specifies controls that reducethe consequences of flooding. Flooding is an event associated with by far the majority of vessellosses. The standard bridges the gap between relatively stringent international standards intendedfor full seagoing operations and standards applicable to small craft in sheltered conditions. Someof the key changes relative to current standards have been highlighted in the paper.
