Sand production is a natural consequence of fluid flow into a wellbore from the reservoir. Sand production was found to be not a problem in the early part of the fields with high reservoir pressures. But the effect of sand transport on pressure drop becomes more pronounced in the late life of reservoir. Accurate estimation of pressure drop due to sand production has been of great interest for a long time for production engineers. Numerous solutions to halt sand effect on flowing pressure in gas wells have been attempted with low degree of success. In this paper, a model was developed that analyzed the significant effect of sand on pressure drop during early and late life of a well which was not accurately predicted in existing models.
