Thermal Efficiency Optimization of the Hot Stove System

An operation strategy for the thermal efficiency optimization of the hot stove system was investigated in this study. The methodology was based on the Taguchi methods, in which, an L9 orthogonal array was utilized to determine the testing trials. In addition, the signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio analyses related to larger-the-better quality characteristics were conducted to determine the optimum parameter combinations. Experimental observations revealed that 2.97% of the thermal efficiency improvement and the reduction of the enrichment gas (COG) consumption by 36.48% have been attained. The benefits of energy saving over 1.1 million US dollars and the CO_2 reduction of 7,076 tons have been achieved annually.
