Research on the Conservation and Development of Historical Towns and Villages in China

摘要

In analyzing the dilemma of preservation in Chinese historical towns and villages, this paper proposes a participatory community planning approach, which can work well to avoid the normal problems of other approaches, such as over-emphasizing on short-term interests and physical heritage conservation, lacking of residents' participation and support. The dynamic mechanism and regulatory mechanism in conservation of historical towns and villages also has been discussed in details.
