Measurements of RAM radial breathing modes (RBM) have been most useful in characterizing the diameters of CNTs. In this work, the vibrational frequencies and Raman RBM of CNTs are simulated based on a continuum mechanics. It is shown that vibrational frequency of RBM is complicated to MWCNTs due to the van der Waals interaction between tubes. Moreover, the RBM of MWNTs over a broad range of inner and outer diameters is investigated in detail. The analytical approximation offers a useful method for determining precisely the diameter of the MWCNTs.
