摘要

Polymer electrolyte fuel cell (PEFC) is being considered as a clean and alternative source of energy, for the use in automobiles and stationery power sources, due to the production of electricity by the use of pure hydrogen as fuel which reacts with oxygen present in ambient air to give water as the only product. But, during intake of atmospheric air, especially near coastal areas, chlorides salts also get into the cathode. The continuous exposure of the fuel cell to such environment results in higher chloride concentration. So, the study on the effect of such high chlorides on the dissolution behaviour of platinum is necessary. The objective of the present research, thus, is to study the effect of high chloride ion (500, 1000 and 2000 ppm) on platinum dissolution under potential cycling in 0.5M H_2SO_4 using channel flow double electrode (CFDE) system.
