Knowledge management deals with the processes and practices used within the organization to identify, collect, distribute and share experiences. Deactivation and Decommissioning (D&D) work within the Department of Energy (DOE) complex is a high priority area. The Applied Research Center at Florida International University, working in collaboration with DOE, Energy Facility Contractors Group (EFCOG), and the As Low As is Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) Centers, is developing a the web-based Deactivation and Decommissioning Knowledge Management Information Tool (D&D KM-IT) to preserve the knowledge that the community has developed and gathered through experiences on various projects.
