Employment Self-efficacy: Construction and Initial Validation of a Scale for University Students

This article revised the colleges' employment self-efficacy (ESE) scale, and measured 330 undergraduates using thescale. The results are as follows: The structures of students' ESEconsists of five dimensions including self-evaluation ofpersonality, labor market, schools reputation, academicachievement and job information and skills. The overallstudents' ESE reached an average or above; Students fromdifferent grades and majors have significant difference, thescores of seniors are higher than that of the juniors, andaccounting students have higher efficacy than businessmanagement students. The undergraduates of different genders,different native place and those between single child and non-single child don't have significant difference, but male studentshave higher scores than female students, the scores of studentsfrom cities are higher than those from rural areas, and non-single children have higher efficacy than single children.University should carry out different employment instructionsfor different students.
