In this study, samaria-doped ceria (Sm_(0.2)Ce_(0.8)O_(2-δ); SDC)-coated the yttria-doped strontium titanium oxide (Sr_(0.92)Y_(0.08)TiO_(3-δ); SYT) was studied as a novel anode material for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs). The SYT, known as mixed ionic and electronic conductors (MIEC), exhibits the good electronic/ionic conductivity and phase stability in typical SOFC anode operating conditions. However, SYT has shown the poor electro-catalytic activity toward fuel (i.e. H2 or hydrocarbon) oxidation, although SYT has an excellent sulfur or carbon resistance.
