Study on Mining Economic Transition of Northwest China Based on Sustainable Development of Ecological Environment

Resources exploitation, economic development and environmental protection are essential and inseparable essentials for the development of northwest China. As one of the mainstays to promote the social and economic development of northwest China, mining industry also has a strong impact on regional ecological environment. Based on the regional natural conditions and characteristics of mining industry, the current development mode of mining economy of northwest China has brought tremendous pressures on the sustainable development of ecological environment. According to the theory of environmental economics and ecological economics, and the existing impact of mining development upon ecological environment in northwest China, this paper profoundly analyzed the internal relationship among mining development, economic development and ecological environment protection, and also figured out the deficiencies of fund input, incentive mechanism and compensation mechanism are essential difficulties for local governments to solve the contradiction between the mining development and ecological environment protection of northwest China. The key of this paper is putting forward the viewpoint that the essence of the ecological environment protection issue during mining development process in northwestern region is an economic issue. Therefore, the contradiction of mineral exploitation and ecological environment protection is able to be effectively coordinated by economic means. Based on the above cognition, the paper put forward several beneficial suggestions on promoting mining economic transition of northwest area from the perspectives of establishing reasonable ecological compensation mechanisms and changing developing mode of mining industry.
