PSO Method: Practice Study on Engine Room Arrangement of a Ship

摘要

Based on the principles of PSO (Particle Swarm Optimization) and its analysis of characteristics, a test function is applied to verify the feature of this optimization algorithm. Accordingly, the expression and inferential method are proposed by analyzing the equipment types in the ship engine room, including general arrangement principles. Firstly, a 3D solid model is set up in CATIA. Also a corresponding mathematic model for the layout optimization is established, which helps to analyze the relationship of equipments' space constraints with the mathematic expression derived for the space constraints. Secondly, the numerical algorithm is adopted and geometric constraints are solved. Finally, the particle swarm optimization is applied to the test case like the engine room arrangement optimization, which can illustrate the validity and effectiveness, by comparing with two other algorithms associated with iSIGHT.
