Formulas are developed for calculating the relaxation magnetic parameters of steels from the parameters of the saturation hysteresis loop. The structural and magnetic phase sensitivity of the relaxation magnetic parameters is analyzed. The conditions are determined, under which the relaxation magnetic parameters are highly sensitive to changes in the structural state and the phase composition of steels and steel products. The principles and limitations for the use of the measurements of the relaxation magnetic parameters for magnetic testing of steel structures are summarized. The examples are shown for the quality control of products from medium-carbon steels.
