Buckling and postbuckling behaviour of thin-walled channel-section beams made of an epoxy-glass composite are discussed. The analysed beam is subjected to pure bending. An influence of the ply arrangement on the buckling load and the postbuckling behaviour has been considered. The calculations have been performed with the finite element method commercial software and the analytical-numerical method which has been developed at the Department of Strength of Materials, TUL, for more than 25 years. The applied analytical-numerical method uses the asymptotic Koiter's theory for conservative systems in the second order approximation modified by Byskov and Hutchinson. The postbuckling equilibrium paths obtained with the two above-mentioned methods have been compared. Additionally, an influence of ply arrangements on the failure load has been examined with the finite element method software.
