Self Compacting Concrete as a Friendly Environmental Material

摘要

One of the important discoveries within concrete buildings domain is self-compacting concrete (SCC). This material has a special composition with no necessity of compacting and it is able to flow under its own weight. The paper presents a typical composition for a self compacting concrete that was obtained during a research project at "Politehnica" University of Timisoara [4]. Furthermore, some economical computations where made in order to establish that this product can be referred to as a sustainable one. Conclusions of the paper prove that in construction practice and performance, combined with the health and safety benefits, make SCC a very attractive solution for both precast concrete and civil engineering construction.
