To get a complete picture of distribution characteristics of nitrogen and phosphorus in estuarine wetland sediments of Tangxi River and evaluate its pollution degree,24 sampling points were chosen to collect sediment cores in the right of estuarine wetland.The results showed that the content levels of nitrogen and phosphorus had a decline trend with the increase of sediment depth.On spatial distribution,the high content levels of nutrient elements were concentrated on the verge of lake waters and in the vicinity of Tangxi River course at the mouth.Other sampling sites,especially in the central region,were not so seriously polluted by nitrogen and phosphorus.In general,the content levels of TN and TP exceeded the relevant contamination standards recommended and adopted by the Ministry of Environment and Energy of Canada.
