Non-point source (NPS) pollution derives from many different sources with no specific solution to rectify the problem, making it difficult to regulate. There are remarkable variations on the pollutant load and influencing extent for the specific landscape units. The units which are easy to export pollutant load are the non-point source pollution sensitive areas. It is important to identify the Non-point Source Pollution Sensitive Areas for non-point source pollution control and management plan. The downstreaM watershed of Chaobaixin River, which stretches on the north-eastern part of Tianjin, covers three districts including Baodi, Ninghe and Tanggu and involves a total population of 350,700.Based on a TM image and GIS platform, the USLE (The Universal Soil Loss Equation) is used to create the distribution of nonpoint source pollution sensitive areas in DownstreaM Watershed of Chaobaixin River. Our research extends the field of USLE and provides information for the plan of non-point source pollution control.
