An initial evaluation the biodiversity of pulse crops under current conditions and predict the future trend has been assessed. The data related to biodiversity, yield, acreage and production were collected and necessary analyses were made. Results showed that from 1983 to 2003 diversity of rainfed pulse crops increased by 1.19 and this trend is continuing until the year 2021 with an increase of 1.22 folds compared with the year 2003. However, this increase for irrigated crop was 0.81 folds in 2003, compared with 1983 and the future increase for the year 2021 predicted to be 0.88 compared with the year 2003. Total biodiversity of irrigated and rainfed pulse crops for this period was almost constant (1.03). However, a 10% reduction was predicted by the year 2021 compared with the year 2003. Total production of bean, chickpea and lentil have been increased 3.29, 2.61, 4.83 folds from 1983 to 2003, respectively. No change was observed for other pulse crops. The acreage for the same crops (bean, chickpea and lentil) and other pulse crops increased by 2.64, 2.50, 5.56 and 1.15 folds in this period, respectively. With the exception of the bean crop, which increased by 1.24, there was little change in the yields observed.
