Weld cladding is considered by many operators to be one of the most effective corrosion protection methods, today. It produces a compact and tightly bonded layer of corrosion resistant material on a base material like carbon steel. It is furthermore characterized by the fact that the base material, the cladding material, the thickness of the corrosion resistant layers and the geometry/dimension of the components to be cladded can be easily varied in a broad range. Weld cladding is therefore increasingly applied in many industrial areas like for example in the oil and gas industry or in the energy industry.
