The objective of the study focuses on computing of the curling stresses in cement concrete pavement structure induced by temperature gradient, first of all, through some examples, the feasibility of curling stresses computation by using a two-layered concrete pavement structure model and an equivalent single-layered pavement model is discussed, the results indicated that the curling stresses based on the former model are much different from that upon the latter model, thus, when computing the curling stresses in concrete pavement, it is not appropriate to simply consider the function of base as an enhancement of foundation modulus using equivalency approach. Based upon a two-layered structure model, a set of approximate formulas for computing the curling stresses in concrete pavement structure with base extended from 0 to infinite are then provided. Moreover, by adopting a twolayered beams on elastic foundation model, the effects of base extension and interlayer stiffness are analyzed; the study showed that when setting matched joints in base course (equal dimensions) the interlayer stiffness has no significant influence on the curling stresses in concrete pavement, whereas setting mismatched joints in base course (base extension) and placing a soft interlayer in between concrete pavement and base the curling stresses in concrete pavement will reduce considerably.
