摘要

The rising fuel prices increase the urgency with which the automotive industry has to come up with light weight solutions. The objective of the paper is to highlight latest trends in automotive body structure development to meet the structural requirements for crash. The paper highlights critical crash modes which affect the performance of the vehicle structure in frontal, side and rear impact conditions. Further, the paper elaborates the load path strategy and use of advanced materials to achieve the increasing demand in structural requirements with optimal body weight.
