Chaotic attitude motion of the 3D rigid pendulum

摘要

In this paper we introduce the new concept of 3D rigid pendulum. It represents a three rotational degrees of freedom rigid body, supported by a frictionless pivot. The dynamical model of the problem is established. The chaotic dynamical behaviors are numerically investigated by means of phase responses, time history and Poincare map. Numerical simulations indicate that the uncontrolled 3D rigid pendulum is a chaotic dynamics system.
