摘要

The Cerrejon (La Guajira) is a major centre of coal production situated on the North of Colombia, on the Atlantico Sea coast with exportation per year of 63 million ton of coal. Most types of indus- trial activated carbons are produced from naturally happening carbonaceous materials like coal, wood, corn, petroleum, peat and other biomass [1-3]. These materials are impressive adsorbents for several organic compounds of interest, both in gas and liquid phase treatment processes. In recent years, many studies are also being conducted for the investigation of hydrogen storage properties of carbonaceous materials. Hydrogen storage studies in carbon nanostructures including carbon nanotubes have been increased since the discovery of carbon nanotubes, but the production cost of the carbon nanotubes is still one of the important factors to be considered[1,2].
