PREPARATION OF CaO/MgO-LOADED CARBON MATERIALS AND THEIR APPLICATION FOR CO2 AND SO2 SORPTION

In the recent years much effort has been made to develop efficient methods for removal of SO2, CO2 and other acid gases from various gas streams. One of the proposed solutions involves the use of carbon materials containing suitable alkaline additives [1,2,3]. The preparation of such materials is usually based on impregnation of commercially available carbon sorbent. However, the additive-loaded porous carbons can also be obtained through simple heating of mixtures consisting of carbon precursor and certain thermally unstable precursor.
