Design of low-contrast periodic structures in highly non-linear glass for the ultra-short pulse processing in Mid-Infrared
2D arrays of parallel waveguides have wide range of promising applications in photonics, in particular, as non-linear switches, spectral filters and beam splitters. Defect modes can be also used for efficient dispersion compensation. The waveguide arrays can be formed by ridge waveguides or by lattices with different refractive index. Ridge waveguides are etched or embossed in fixed materials, optical lattices are induced in a bulk media using photorefraction or femtosecond (fs) processing.
