To observe the influence of the exhaustive exercise on the hippocampus serotonin (5-HT) and its metabolism; to compare the different stages of the campaign after the recovery; to analyze how 5-HT and its metabolism affect the fatigue during exerciseinduced central fatigue stage of the recovery. All rats were decapitated after a one-time swimming until exhaustion. Brains were obtained in the following stages: control group (a state of quiet); immediately after exercise, 1h after exercise, 12 hrs after exercise, 24 hrs after exercise, and 48 hrs after exercise. A high performance liquid chromatography method was used in the determination of the content of hippocampus 5-HT, tryptophan (Trp) and 5-HIAA (5-HIAA). Ultraviolet colorimetry method was used to determine the activity of monoamine oxidase-A (MAO-A).
