A POLICY DESCRIPTION LANGUAGE FOR EXCEPTION HANDLING IN SERVICE-BASED PROCESSES

Policy description languages (PDL) are the basis of policy-driven exception handling for Service-based processes. Due to the lack of existing policy languages representing capacities for exception handling, this paper presents WS-Policy4SPEH, a new PDL for exception handling in Service-based processes. Based on the Web Services Policy Framework, this language extended the specifications of effects in ECA rules; defined a variety of action patterns that support in details the exception handling and flexibly specified the return modes and the exception propagation after exception handling. The paper adopted XML as a meta-language for specifying WS-Policy4SPEH, with a reasonable scalability.
