Catacel Corp., in cooperation with a major hydrogen plant builder, has recently validated performance of a new foil reactor technology that is intended to directly replace packed ceramic shapes in conventional steam methane reformer plants. The technology was installed in a 260m3/hr hydrogen plant that started up in July, 2008. The installation and startup were conducted without problems, and plant operation continues at full rate. Performance results from and experiences with the pilot plant will be presented and compared with results obtained during the earlier validation testing.
