The inter-rater and intra-rater reliability of the Estonian version of the Structured Observation of Motor Performance of Infants (SOMP-I) used for evaluating healthy full-term infants - A Pilot Study

Due to the increasing survival possibilities of high risk infants the importance of accurate assessment and surveillance of their development is increasing. During the last decades more attention has been turned to the evaluation of the motor performance, its level and more importantly its quality. The Structured Observation of Motor Performance in Infants (SOMP-I) was translated into Estonian and a pilot study on 20 healthy full-term infants was carried out to analyze the inter- and intra-rater reliability of the Estonian version of the SOMP-I in order to prove the usability of the test as well as to contribute to the development and introducing the SOMP-I. The infants were assessed by two Estonian physiotherapists and half of the children also by the author of the SOMP-I. The assessments were done according to the video-recordings. The current article introduces the reliability results for assessing the level of motor performance.
